About TYGA

December 10, 2024.

Hello! My name is Austin Yeom, but many know me as “TYGA”, a name I chose after becoming a follower of Jesus. It stands for “Thank You, God. Always.” I am deeply blessed to have faith in Christ. I’m currently a student in the Communication Division at Pepperdine University. I have a passion for brain foods and exploring how communication shapes our world.

I come from a background that has profoundly shaped my academic and personal pursuits. Growing up, I faced challenges that taught me the importance of resilience, particularly through a traumatic brain injury I experienced. This life-altering event highlighted the value of nutrition and its significant impact on cognitive function and overall well-being. This personal experience drives my current advocacy for healthier food options and extended hours at the Waves Café on campus.

The purpose of this blog is to showcase the media content and persuasive arguments I’ve developed for my COM 205, “Storytelling Through Media”, course. Here, you’ll find my reflections, speeches, and proposals, all aimed at fostering positive change within our campus community. My goal is to inspire and inform my peers by advocating for brain-friendly food choices and communicating the power of storytelling through media.

Outside of academics, I’m passionate about health and wellness and enjoy staying active by incorporating brain-foods such as eggs and blueberries into my diet. I’m also deeply interested in brain health research, which aligns with my broader fascination with nutritional neuroscience. My hobby is learning about exercises and eating habits that benefit the brain and sharing their benefits with others.

Looking ahead, my career goals are centered on making a meaningful impact in communication and mental health advocacy. I aspire to take on a role that combines my passion for public speaking with my commitment to promoting healthy living, whether through media or community initiatives.

Thank you for visiting my blog—I hope you find the content insightful, inspiring, and a catalyst for your own journey toward positive change!
